In today’s busy and hectic times we cannot always afford the time it takes for a full treatment, usually 55 minutes. 

Sometimes clients want a quick targeted solution to an immediate skin care concern, such as they are worried about a bothersome breakout, dull skin and tired eyes without having a full treatment. That is why we have introduced, in conjunction with cosmetic brand leader Dermalogica,  the Microzone treatments. This is a 20 minute, high-intensity version of the full treatment that takes place in one third of the time !

Microzone treatments are not intended to replace a full Dermalogica Skin treatment.  However, Microzone treatments are ideal for solving specific concerns, clients who are pushed for time, clients who are new to Dermalogica and clients who have never received a professional skin treatment.

Microzone Flash Exfoliation

For clients who want to resurface, smooth and brighten dull skin.  The Hydroxy acids and Retinol lift away dull surface cells while a nourishing cocktail of vitamins, peptides and botanical extracts help reverse visible signs of ageing leaving you with healthy glowing skin.

Give your face a rest from soap

Don't wash your face ... cleanse it! 

Despite that most of us have been brought up to wash our faces with soap and water I read recently about an actress that has never used soap on her face in her life ! Soap used on the face can be extremely drying and leads to flakiness and whilst it may be more economical you should try giving your face a rest from soap for a while and just use a quality facial cleanser. There are several reasons Dermatologists advise us not to use soap on the face not least because of the fragrances, detergents and deodorants they contain.  Soap may be more suitable for the rest of the body but generally soaps are not formulated for the delicate skin on the face.

Facialcleansers generally have a low pH that is more acidic, this is important because it avoids upsetting the skin's acid mantle and eliminates the natural oils.  Soaps are more alkaline based and have a high pH and products high in alkaline irritate the facial skin. 

Facial cleansing creams are more beneficial for dry skin as they help to restore the skins moisture balance.  Ensure that the facial cleansing product that you are using is 100% fragrance free too as most skin types will react adversely to fragrance additives. Facial cleansers have enough cleaning ability to remove the oily build up from oily skin, but they will not dry out mature or sensitive skin. Using cleansers on a regular basis will lead to a really healthy looking and plumper skin tone.

RED ALERT! over DIY hair dye!

Keep your hair vibrant BUT not from a box!

ARE you frustrated and upset that after going for a vibrant red or a real fashion colour that after a few weeks in you started looking slightly wishy washy ? You feel it would be too expensive to ask for a refresher, so what do you do ?? A) You go for a box dye from the local supermarket. Maybe you don’t realise that it’s probably doing more harm than good. Yeah it may be looking good on the outside but the harm is being done on the inside?. For example a box dye usually contains a high strength peroxide, this is usually at 12%, which no professional salon would ever use on scalp application. Another issue is the colour on the box is almost certainly not what will appear on your hair as colour is specific to the person. You could use the same red as someone in your family and it is a gorgeous vibrant red on them but when you try you have this horrendous orange glow and chewy bitty ends ! Do you really want be walking around like that?.

DYE DISASTER

Well we would say that wouldn’t we but you must remember that hair colour in the salon is tailored to you. From an in-depth consultation to finding out a various things about you and close examination of the hair natural colouring, the percentage of grey, your skin tone which plays a big factor in the right colour for you, a porosity test that tests how well your colour will take on your hair.

There are so many things to consider to make sure you get the best result and colour you desired.

You ever wondered what the different between permanent and semi permanent colour? Well your box dye says it will be out in a month but being a semi permanentcolour will it? In most cases it doesn’t due to high levels of pigmentations in the shade.

The best way to get a quick fix of colour is a good temporary colour which tends to only stain the outer shafts of the hair and resulting in a colour that lasts days rather than weeks. But if you still want the permanent look then there is nothing like professional application for keeping a great colour and your hair in the best condition. We only apply where the colour needed, resulting in no colour banding, no build up and only using the amount needed with no wastage. The box colours can leave your hair in a terrible state, being dry, damaged and worse case breakage, this causing unwanted restyles.
