How to clear the way for perfect skin

Not long ago we discussed the end of terms PROMS and how important it is to have good make up and a stunning hair do.
It's not just about what you wear, your hair style, the cars and the beauty treatments but young people often have skin issues and a lot of my clients ask me about their children and grand children who have skin problems that are causing them undue stress. Are there any skin treatments and skin care products on the market for teenagers ?. …well the short answer is YES.
Skin breakouts are the number one issue among teens.  It not only affects their skin but embarrasses them and lowers self-esteem.
WHAT CAUSES BREAKOUTS AMONG TEENS?

REGIME Clear Start
Acne is generally part-genetic, part hormonal, but unlike adult acne, which tends to be inflammatory and related to stress, teenage acne is usually triggered by puberty and the introduction of new chemicals into the body.  Androgen hormones become more pronounced at this time which stimulate hair growth and sebaceous (oil) gland activity, which increases oil production.  That excess oil can mix with skin cells and get infected with bacteria, they swell and this becomes a breakout.  Pores can also become larger, skin can appear shinier and rougher, cheeks may feel more sensitive or look pink and of course, blackheads, whiteheads and inflamed lesions can appear on the face, neck, chest, back and shoulders.
HOW DO YOU TREAT, CLEAR AND PREVENT BREAKOUTS AMONG TEENS?
Thorough cleansing, toning and moisturising, day and night, is a good regime for life to reduce excess sebum and reduce inflammation.
Through an easy-to-follow, 4 step regime that incorporates extra clearing products, Clear Start helps teens reveal their clearest level of skin.  Teens can also benefit by seeing me about a BREAKOUT CLEARING MICROZONE TREATMENT, designed to solve issues right on the spot.  From extracting blackheads to reducing redness, this treatment gets skin in shape fast - perfect for breakouts that occur at the most inconvenient times.Special price for the month of June £20 usual price £28.
If you have any concerns or queries regarding this treatment or any other treatments please feel free to contact me.  I look forward to seeing you all soon.

Summer in the sun, recipe for hair damage.

www.noggis.co.uk

Summer sun is no friend to your hair

Summer time, fresh lemonade, relaxing and sunbathing sounds idyllic BUT not for your hair which will be subjected harmful UV rays and heat from the sun which will break down the protective protein in your hair resulting any natural colours oxidising and giving a brassy hue to your hair.
This results in your hair being stripped of its radiant natural shine and leaving your hair damaged and brittle.

And if you are swimming, in the sea or a pool, you risk damaging your hair even more. As well as the UV rays, salt water can frizzle the follicles and zapps all moisture out of your hair. So here are a few summer hair tips to keep your locks glowing and healthy.

PROTECTION Soltan Head & Scalp Spray SPF30 from Boots
If your hair has a colour added to it be especially careful because the sun’s effects can be unpredictable and send it into a different colour altogether, so when in the sun either wear a hat or use plenty of conditioner or sun spray, items readily available in most chemists and especially Boots, which contain SPF protection for the colour and condition of your hair. To tame any unruly frizz, the main culprit being moisture in the water and humidity in the air, you need to invest in a good serum or finishing spritz.

The very opposite to dry frizzy hair is greasy locks as the heat promotes your sebaceous glands to churn out more of your body’s natural oil. The solution here is a dry shampoo to absorb the hair oil or you could dip a cotton ball into witch hazel (a natural astringent) which will dissolve the oil. Bathe your scalp along your parting and around your hairline and this will help slow down the release of sebum.

Otherwise sea water is good for you whereas the chlorine in pools is a different problem altogether, even sending your hair green !! The chorine creates a green film over the hair, which is going to be more obvious on lighter shades of hair, so if you are thinking about taking a dip, make sure you do a pre swim prep. Before you take a plunge, wet your hair thoroughly with tap water, this will stop your hair absorbing as much chlorinated water and it’s also a good idea to use and leave in conditioner. If you do end up a shade of green, for a fix, try using a clarifying shampoo. These shampoos have residue removing properties but if that doesn’t work for you can you try the natural remedy of vinegar and water. When swimming avoid using elastic bands with metal seams when putting your hair up instead opt for a soft scrunchy and when putting your hair up make sure it is done loosely as if it is too tight this can cause breakage.

Have a great Holiday

Treat dad to abit of pampering (Sunday June 15th)

www.noggis.co.uk

Happy Fathers Day Dad !!

I guess there is always the problem of what to buy Dad on Fathers Day (Sunday June 15th) . Buying for Mum always seems an awful lot easier. Well how about the idea of treating him to a Noggis Gentlemans Special pampering day to include a massage, pedicure , facial and hair cut.

Yes why not spoil him this Fathers Day with a relaxing escape away from all the noise and stress of family life. Firstly it’s upstairs to meet Sophie our fantastic beauty therapist at Beauty at Noggis.

www.facebook.com/beautyatnoggis for a deep tissue massage to relieve any aches and pains and muscle tension throughout the body. The massage will be extremely beneficial because it reaches the deepest layer of muscles, joints and tendons. The goal in deep tissue massage is to breakdown adhesions (tense areas within the muscle). Adhesions in the muscle are very important to address because they cause dull background pain, inflammation and limit motion of the muscles and joints.

Follow the massage with a gentleman’s facial, one of the best ways to take care of the skin. This includes cleansing, exfoliation and nourishment for the skin, promoting a clear, well-hydrated complexion AND help his skin and appearance look younger !! The facial will be tailored to his skin type using only the very best Dermologica products. To complete the spa experience, finish up with a sports pedicure to firstly remove the dead skin cells on the bottom of the feet using a pumice stone, then toe nails are clipped and the cuticles are trimmed back. Also included in sports pedicure is leg care to include exfoliation, the application of moisturising creams and a brief leg massage. After Sophie its downstairs to visit Craig or Kieran in the Mens at Noggis Department for a shampoo and hair cut. This could be your usual style or maybe something different like a high precision textured messy hair cut? They will certainly make him look his very best! You can even include a traditional hot towel shave experience, luxurious lather, open razor and fresh cologne.

Dad should now be ready for a nice drink with the family feeling great and looking sharp.
