Look sharp with a 'NEW' razor style

www.noggis.co.uk

THE hair cut that is the big talk in the hair world is the trendy razor-cut bob. Is this a blast from the past or a particularly playful variation of the classic cut.
This trendy style was all over the 2014 fashion catwalks being show cased both by the models and as well as on stars watching and it made onto nearly every on line photo blog. So is it time to say goodbye to the long girlish flowing wavy hair and trade it in for an edgy razor-cut ? Why would you…well this haircut is not only easy to take care of but also very flexible.

What is the Razor-Cut Bob?
www.noggis.co.uk
Dianna Argon from TV series Glee
with Razor Cut bob
With a feather razor, or very sharp scissors, the hair strands are cut into a bob, framing the face and accentuating the contour. The process is much like the conventional step cut, light and feathery but here a clear line is created whilst keeping its playful look because of the varying lengths.

The razor-cut bob works well with fine to middle-thick hair and with every hair texture, whether straight or curly. Another plus for the razor-cut bob is that this trendy hair cut suits all face shapes, because we can tailor it to you.

Colour for the Trendy Razor-Bob?
Natural shades, ranging from sandy blond to honey brown are ideal for emphasising the lightness of this trendy haircut. Light brown also brings out the structure of razor-cut bobs and shows off the smart haircut to advantage.

How to Style a Razor-Cut Bob
One hair cut, many different looks: The razor-cut bob is easy to maintain and can be done in different hairdos. For a natural look as though you are coming from the beach, let your hair air dry after washing to give it a natural frizzy look. Do you want more volume? Then blow dry the top hair over the head or under a round brush. Hair wax can be used to accentuate a few strands or work the front part separately. Beach waves also work well on a face with a razor-cut bob. For an elegant evening look, use hair gel to make the top sleek with this trendy 2014 style, and use a straightening iron on the length.

Hair We Go Away

Hair We Go Away

Hair loss is usually genetic or caused by Androgentic Alopecia, this happens to around 40% of both men and women and can be inherited form either of both parents.

In normal hair growth each hair follicle grows in cycles, the growth phase lasts around 2 or more years, during this phase, the hair is actively growing and lengthening, then the hair goes into a resting phase, lasting up to 3 months with hair feeling like its not growing and old hair falling out. Don't worry as this is normal after this the cycle repeats itself. On a healthy scalp on any given day about a 100 new hairs grow and the same number fall out maintaining an even balance of hair across the scalp.

www.noggis.co.uk

Hair loss in  Alopecia, it is caused by a natural hormone known as dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This is present in all healthy men and women; DHT enters the cells of hair follicles, restricting the growth of healthy hair. Over time the follicle cell becomes weak, and will eventually only produce, short, fine hairs and the results start showing with thinning and balding becoming more visible. In women, the hair loss process often occurs around or after menopause, but it can begin in childhood. In men, hair loss can be at any age. This can happen as young as early teens when the hair line begins to recedes and around the crown area like a monk !. There are certain other  medical conditions that can lead to hair loss including thyroid irregularities, medications, infections, iron deficiency and extreme stress.

www.noggis.co.ukHere are a few NOGGI tips to look after your hair.

Rule number 1, TAKE care of your hair, stay away from poor quality shampoo as they contain a load of chemicals, they can not only harm your scalp but they can strip your hair of all the good stuff, also you need minimize the use of hot styling tools, i.e., straighteners, hair dryers, these weaken the proteins in your hair. If at all possible you also need to maintain your stress levels under control, meaning get an adequate amount of sleep, exercise regularly, make sure your diet is really healthy with plenty of  iron, protein, vitamin c, omega 3, biotin and zinc, all these vitamins will help keep your hair and body healthy.

Then again you could just come and see us for an intensive care treatment, sit back and relax.

Take out the stress out of your wedding day

Since your wedding day is planned to be the best day of your life it is only natural you want to look the best you possibly can.

www.facebook.com/noggis.hairdressingSo amongst all of your planning you need to pencil in an appointment with your hair stylist as choosing the hairstyle that suits you best and the special dress of the day cannot be taken more seriously. Your wedding day hairstyle, along with everything else, has to compliment your make up, dress and accessories.  Many brides to be will have a brand new style for their wedding day and you need to know well in advance as you don't want to switch at the last minute. Before you decide on any hairstyle, make sure you have chosen your dress, head dress or veil, work with your accessories, and of course your bridesmaids, and then you can choose the best style for the big day.  A good idea is to have a trial run ( girls only !) to help make your mind up and show up any flaws with your idea. Once this is all planned you can set your appointment and put a tick against one more box you can forget about.

www.facebook.com/beautyatnoggisGetting married abroad can have its own problems, in the Caribbean all brides are given a standard French Pleat so if you want something different take a picture of your rehearsal and take it to show the stylist. The best way is the easy way,  so keep it simple for the humid conditions and make it easier on the stylist there.

A good tip if you have your hair coloured, make sure you have it topped up 2 weeks before your wedding day making sure all the roots are concealed and the week before its good to have a final trim. Also you are advised not to use any hair products for the first time close to the day.  When prepping your hair it's sometimes best NOT to wash your hair on the day but to leave it unwashed for 24 hours to make it a lot easier to style as your hair has had chance to settle down.

At Noggis you can have all the team at your disposal for hair for the bride and maids and Sophia can do the make up and nails, all under one roof. Good luck for the future !!

How to clear the way for perfect skin

www.noggis.co.uk

How to clear the way for perfect skin

Not long ago we discussed the end of terms PROMS and how important it is to have good make up and a stunning hair do.
It's not just about what you wear, your hair style, the cars and the beauty treatments but young people often have skin issues and a lot of my clients ask me about their children and grand children who have skin problems that are causing them undue stress. Are there any skin treatments and skin care products on the market for teenagers ?. …well the short answer is YES.
Skin breakouts are the number one issue among teens.  It not only affects their skin but embarrasses them and lowers self-esteem.
WHAT CAUSES BREAKOUTS AMONG TEENS?
www.facebook.com/beautyatnoggis
REGIME Clear Start
Acne is generally part-genetic, part hormonal, but unlike adult acne, which tends to be inflammatory and related to stress, teenage acne is usually triggered by puberty and the introduction of new chemicals into the body.  Androgen hormones become more pronounced at this time which stimulate hair growth and sebaceous (oil) gland activity, which increases oil production.  That excess oil can mix with skin cells and get infected with bacteria, they swell and this becomes a breakout.  Pores can also become larger, skin can appear shinier and rougher, cheeks may feel more sensitive or look pink and of course, blackheads, whiteheads and inflamed lesions can appear on the face, neck, chest, back and shoulders.
HOW DO YOU TREAT, CLEAR AND PREVENT BREAKOUTS AMONG TEENS?
Thorough cleansing, toning and moisturising, day and night, is a good regime for life to reduce excess sebum and reduce inflammation.
Through an easy-to-follow, 4 step regime that incorporates extra clearing products, Clear Start helps teens reveal their clearest level of skin.  Teens can also benefit by seeing me about a BREAKOUT CLEARING MICROZONE TREATMENT, designed to solve issues right on the spot.  From extracting blackheads to reducing redness, this treatment gets skin in shape fast - perfect for breakouts that occur at the most inconvenient times.Special price for the month of June £20 usual price £28.
If you have any concerns or queries regarding this treatment or any other treatments please feel free to contact me.  I look forward to seeing you all soon.

Summer in the sun, recipe for hair damage.

www.noggis.co.uk

Summer sun is no friend to your hair

Summer time, fresh lemonade, relaxing and sunbathing sounds idyllic BUT not for your hair which will be subjected harmful UV rays and heat from the sun which will break down the protective protein in your hair resulting any natural colours oxidising and giving a brassy hue to your hair.
This results in your hair being stripped of its radiant natural shine and leaving your hair damaged and brittle.

And if you are swimming, in the sea or a pool, you risk damaging your hair even more. As well as the UV rays, salt water can frizzle the follicles and zapps all moisture out of your hair. So here are a few summer hair tips to keep your locks glowing and healthy.

PROTECTION Soltan Head & Scalp Spray SPF30 from Boots
If your hair has a colour added to it be especially careful because the sun’s effects can be unpredictable and send it into a different colour altogether, so when in the sun either wear a hat or use plenty of conditioner or sun spray, items readily available in most chemists and especially Boots, which contain SPF protection for the colour and condition of your hair. To tame any unruly frizz, the main culprit being moisture in the water and humidity in the air, you need to invest in a good serum or finishing spritz.

The very opposite to dry frizzy hair is greasy locks as the heat promotes your sebaceous glands to churn out more of your body’s natural oil. The solution here is a dry shampoo to absorb the hair oil or you could dip a cotton ball into witch hazel (a natural astringent) which will dissolve the oil. Bathe your scalp along your parting and around your hairline and this will help slow down the release of sebum.

Otherwise sea water is good for you whereas the chlorine in pools is a different problem altogether, even sending your hair green !! The chorine creates a green film over the hair, which is going to be more obvious on lighter shades of hair, so if you are thinking about taking a dip, make sure you do a pre swim prep. Before you take a plunge, wet your hair thoroughly with tap water, this will stop your hair absorbing as much chlorinated water and it’s also a good idea to use and leave in conditioner. If you do end up a shade of green, for a fix, try using a clarifying shampoo. These shampoos have residue removing properties but if that doesn’t work for you can you try the natural remedy of vinegar and water. When swimming avoid using elastic bands with metal seams when putting your hair up instead opt for a soft scrunchy and when putting your hair up make sure it is done loosely as if it is too tight this can cause breakage.

Have a great Holiday

Treat dad to abit of pampering (Sunday June 15th)

www.noggis.co.uk

Happy Fathers Day Dad !!

I guess there is always the problem of what to buy Dad on Fathers Day (Sunday June 15th) . Buying for Mum always seems an awful lot easier. Well how about the idea of treating him to a Noggis Gentlemans Special pampering day to include a massage, pedicure , facial and hair cut.

Yes why not spoil him this Fathers Day with a relaxing escape away from all the noise and stress of family life. Firstly it’s upstairs to meet Sophie our fantastic beauty therapist at Beauty at Noggis.

www.facebook.com/beautyatnoggis for a deep tissue massage to relieve any aches and pains and muscle tension throughout the body. The massage will be extremely beneficial because it reaches the deepest layer of muscles, joints and tendons. The goal in deep tissue massage is to breakdown adhesions (tense areas within the muscle). Adhesions in the muscle are very important to address because they cause dull background pain, inflammation and limit motion of the muscles and joints.

Follow the massage with a gentleman’s facial, one of the best ways to take care of the skin. This includes cleansing, exfoliation and nourishment for the skin, promoting a clear, well-hydrated complexion AND help his skin and appearance look younger !! The facial will be tailored to his skin type using only the very best Dermologica products. To complete the spa experience, finish up with a sports pedicure to firstly remove the dead skin cells on the bottom of the feet using a pumice stone, then toe nails are clipped and the cuticles are trimmed back. Also included in sports pedicure is leg care to include exfoliation, the application of moisturising creams and a brief leg massage. After Sophie its downstairs to visit Craig or Kieran in the Mens at Noggis Department for a shampoo and hair cut. This could be your usual style or maybe something different like a high precision textured messy hair cut? They will certainly make him look his very best! You can even include a traditional hot towel shave experience, luxurious lather, open razor and fresh cologne.

Dad should now be ready for a nice drink with the family feeling great and looking sharp.
